1. Focus on Comprehension, Not Just Reading Speed

• Many aspirants skim passages to save time and end up missing the main idea.

• Example: If a passage is about climate change, the author may highlight policy failures more than scientific evidence. If you miss that nuance, you’ll pick an answer about “science of global warming” instead of “government inaction.”

• While reading, pause after every paragraph and ask: “What’s the author trying to say here?” This will help you follow the flow.

2. Practice Para-Based Questions Daily

• Para jumbles, summaries, and odd-sentence-out test logical flow.

• Example (Para Jumble):

  • (A) Many believe AI will replace human jobs.

  • (B) However, history shows technology often creates new roles.

  • (C) The real challenge is adapting workforce skills.

  • (D) Job structures will evolve, not disappear.
    Correct order: A - B - D - C (from problem - evidence - conclusion - next step).

• Look for connectors (words like however, therefore, moreover) and pronouns (this, that, these) to build order

3. Use Elimination More Than Selection

• CAT options are designed to look right. The key is spotting which ones are definitely wrong.

• Example (RC Question):
  Q: What is the author’s attitude toward capitalism in the passage?
  Options:
  (a) Entirely supportive
  (b) Neutral and objective
  (c) Critical of its inequality but acknowledges its efficiency
  (d) Completely dismissive and hostile

  • If the passage mentions “capitalism has created wealth but widened inequality,” then:
    (a) & (d) are extreme.
    (b) is too neutral.
    (c) matches the nuance.

• If stuck, remove extreme/absolute options first. CAT rarely rewards black-and-white answers.

  • 3 para jumble/summary/odd one out sets (10 min).

  • 5 min review of mistakes - ask “Why did I pick this wrong option?”
