Hi, My profile is like 10th- 94.42% and 12th- 71.20% (WB state board), B.Sc Microbiology - 9.26 CGPA (First rank holder in College), M.Sc. Biotechnology- 9.16 CGPA. Category- SC (Female), Have 15 months of research experience at NCBS. Now took gap from march for CAT preparation. Have some extracurricular activities- Taekwondo ( 8th Kup), Painting and Fine Arts (7th Year) and Swimming ( senior level). Qualified some national entrances like NET -JRF and GATE etc.

Want to get some idea and suggestion about BlackiIIMs call and how much to score minimum to get sure shot call from A,B,C? What's the strategy to get converted?

Can you tell me if an MTech will create an issue for my profile?

IIMs look a lot for diversity. There would be questions on why a double Masters which you will have to justify but on a brighter note you will have a different profile than most others and thus have an advantage in that sense.

I did my engineering in mechanical. I have just completed my final year and am planning on giving CAT 2025. Can you tell me if this counts as continuous year or a gap year?

@shaurya It will be counted as a gap year. You will be joining colleges by June 2026 if you are appearing for CAT 2025, so that makes an entire year.

Hi, I am Swapnil. I have my final year of BBA coming up and will give CAT2025. I am a SC category candidate with 8/8 profile. How much percentile do I need for IIM Ahmedabad interview call?

@swapnil By your 8/8 profile, I do think you are talking about your 10th and 12th marks. Building onto that I have seen NCOBC candidates with workex get calls at about 91%ile. Your category gives you a bit of a boost but still you should aim for a minimum of 95%ile. That being said, the more you score, the better your chances are. All the best!

Hi! I got average marks throughout my education that is between 70-80% and am pursuing a Bachelors degree in economics. Will it be tough for me to get interview calls from IIMs?

@Vishal that depends a lot on which IIMs are you talking about. BLACKIMS will sure be a bit difficult but not at all impossible. If you are talking about CAP calls, you have a slightly better chance. Still anything is possble with a good CAT score so prepare well!

Remember everything I wrote above is after assuming that you fall under the General Category.

I am a fresher from IIT Roorkee pursuing B. Architecture and have a decent 9.12 CGPA till now. I am planning to give CAT this year. What should I do and how do I get into good IIMs?

@Sumit B.Arch. does come under the AC-4 category according to IIM Ahmedabad which is the same category as B.Tech. This will result in you needing a bit higher percentile than the non-engineers for getting the same calls. That being said you have a very good CGPA and judging from that if you have good 10th and 12th scores, you have been doing pretty much everything you can. Aim for a good CAT percentile above 99 or even above 99.5 (always aim higher) and you are sure to get calls from some of the best B-Schools. All the best!

I have completed my Masters in Mass Communication with 9.4 cgpa. Also I got above 90% in 10th and above 80% in 12th. In my Bachelors, I again got a good 9.3 cgpa but I was worried about how my already done Masters will affect my chances in CAT 2025... Any help is appreciated

@Soumi You have a very good profile which will help you out in getting a high Composite Score. Your Masters will not affect the chances of you getting calls from good colleges. Saying that, once you get the interview calls be prepared for few questions regarding a decision to take up a second Masters degree.

Perform well in CAT and anything close to 99% will probably get you calls from Tier 1 B-Schools. All the best and prepare well!
